A brutally honest portrayal of the realities of war, this novel relays the story of 15year old Thomas Elkin as he engages in the First World War. A tale of conflict, both global and personal, and of redemption, this is a novel that
has the potential to rank alongside the best of retrospective First World War literature. Accepting the blame for the accidental death of his recently conscripted brother, Elkin switches identity with his dead brother and enters into the fray of the conflict. His burning ambition is to die a glorious death in his brother's name. Believing that, in fully submitting to the reality of war he is atoning for his sins, he faces all the attendant horrors with a steel will and a poignant resignation. His personal conflict sees itself mirrored in the wider events and soon the two are inextricably linked raising issues of mortality, morality, guilt and faith. This novel enacts the kind of existential
crises experienced on the battlefield with the constant threat of imminent and fatal danger a companion. Written with deft skill and sensitivity for the subject matter at hand, this is a piece of stylish work that places the reader at the heart of the action. Featuring nuanced characters and vivid action scenes, it works to evoke a real sense of the times as the story unfolds.
Now available in Libraries throughout the UK in paperback. April 1st 2014 available in libraries in hardback large print. June1st 2014vavailable in Audio.

After slaving away with 'Coming Home' I decided to try something a little lighter with a sense of humour more predominate. Something which told of a rags to riches background. So being a bit of a gambler I settled for a story concerning the game of poker with a beautiful woman as the protagonist. Hence Carla Shawcross, an attractive young women trapped behind the counter of her father's newsagents. Self taught in the art of poker she sneaks out to snooker halls, backrooms in pubs and other seedy places to ply her newly found talent with great success. Then, without her strict fathers knowledge joins a night club and enters a poker competition. Reaching the final round she finds herself up against Fat Yang, a wealthy restauranteur with a dark background. Impressed with her skills he offers to become her mentor by financing her to play for big money against selected opponents from across the world. Suddenly Carla finds herself in a glittering world she knew exixted but only dreamed about. Money comes thick and fast and to remain at the tables she must win. Determined to maintain her status she is prepared to go to any length to win, even murder. But Fat Yang has something more than a game of cards in mind for her, something more deadly. Trouble is, Carla discovers his intentions and her life becomes more than a drop of a card.
I enjoyed writing this book. It is riddled with the humour of life. Whatever the circumstances, there is always something to laugh at. I m sure you will enjoy the read. Available on Amazon and Smashwords.

This story is a complete contrast to the previous book. Based on the truth, it will slap you across the face and leave you shaking with anger, or disgust. Ex-soldier, Tom Gillet, lost a foot in Afghanistan. Were it not for a young Afghan kid pulling him back from a booby-trapped door he would have died.
Back home and suffering from stress, a past comrade tells him the kid has been taken by Al Qaeda and sold into sexual slavery as a dancing boy. Being the kind of man he is, Gillet immediately makes plans to return to Afghanistan and find the kid. What he stumbles across leaves him sickened. While soldiers die fighting the Taliban, in Kabul politicians representing the coalition forces drink and cavort with Taliban war-lords. Teaming up with a Canadian CNN news reporter looking for a story they search for the kid. When at last they find him Gillet realises the implications will affect his family back home. Captured by Al Qaeda he is forced to sit in front of a video camera and read a script condemming American and British politicians of kidnapping Afghan children for their own gratification. Should he refuse he will be beheaded and the film distributed throughout the world.
This is a story not solely based in Afganistan, but in the UK as the stakes are raised. Again I spent a great deal of time researching this subject. It has been called a dark story by some reviewers, but then again isn't life the same at times. This book is selling well in the US.

After the success of 'Coming Home' it is with great pleasure I offer my latest book.
From the brutality of World War One springs a conflict between two officers so deadly that all horrors of the Western Front are pushed to one side. Captain Sebastian Windward, the only son and heir of Lord Windward stands accused of cowardice in the face of the enemy by one of his junior officers, Lt Richard Finch. During a heated argument Windward attempts to kill Finch hopeful of keeping his cowardice hidden. When Finch survives Windward orders his arrest for attacking a senior officer. Aware it his word against his senior officer Finch is confined and awaits a court martial. But others, also familiar with Windward’s cowardice help Finch escape. Dressed as a private, and swearing revenge Finch makes his way back to England.
Skulking in the shadows of the East End of London, Finch is forced into a number of unsavoury jobs to earn a living and escape the clutches of authority. Soon his personal conflict becomes enmeshed with guilt and a burning desire for revenge begins to prey on his mind and the death of Windward becomes an obsession. When their paths cross once more, it is Windward who strikes the first blow and Finch is dealt a shattering blow. Teetering on the edge of insanity he is diagnosed as suffering from shell shock. and fears he is about to lose his mind.
